A pedicure just means care of the foot and you are speaking Latin here. While most folk may spend hundreds on a fancy facial or a high quality conditioning treatment, this poor pair bears your weight – literally – and needs to be pampered too. The feet come into contact with the worst and therefore need the best from you.
Beautiful Feet
A beautiful pair of feet with soft heels and shiny toes is not the property of the highly fashionable alone. Any hard working person deserves a pedicure at the end of the week, if not at the end of the day.

Let’s go to the salon or do it at home, both ways it ensures your investment in that open toes sandals is well worth it. Of course a salon appointment will be less trouble because all you have to do is just sit back and relax. But in case time or money, or both, don’t permit an excursion to the beauty parlor, then gather up these tools and we’ll try it at home with just the same results.
Things Needed for a Pedicure
Gather up these things; nail cutter and filer, orange stick, cuticle cutter, small cotton bands/buds, pumice stone, foot scraper, some liquid soap, a towel, foot cream, nail polish remover and two large basins of lukewarm water. Keep aside a cup of milk, and a tablespoon of olive oil.
How to do Pedicure Yourself
Sit on a chair and keep a low stool in front of you. First remove old nail polish from your toenails using cotton bands dipped in remover and then soak your feet in the first basin of warm water in which a spoon of liquid soap has been added. After ten minutes, take one of the feet out and keep it on the towel spread over the stool so that you have no difficulty in bending over the foot.
Cut your nails at the cuticle level, leaving nails covering the cuticle. Using the orange stick push back the cuticles under the nails. If dead skin is visible, gently snip it out with the cuticle cutter and using the pumice stone, rub over the foot and heels in gentle massaging motion. Using the foot scraper, rub the heels and remove dead skin gently. Repeat with the other foot.
Now dip the feet in the other bowl of warm water to which a cup of milk and a tablespoon of olive oil have been added. After ten minutes take one foot out and dry gently, taking care to dry between the toes as well. Massage the feet gently with the foot cream and gently press the towel against the feet to take out extra cream.
If you feel like adding nail polish, you can do it now, keeping cotton balls dipped in remover between the toes. Make sure the first coat is dry before you apply the second. Then, if you are in a hurry, after the second coat is a touch dry, dip toes in ice water for two minutes before slipping on your sandals. This will take care of the polish not being smudged.
It is advisable to wear cream overnight on the foot and keep it intact by moisture lock cotton socks.
