Hair Shine
A shining dark sheet of hair that is the envy of every woman in the vicinity – is that your dream? Don’t worry, help is at hand. Here is how you can go about adding shine to your hair.
How does hair shine?
The outermost layer of the hair shaft, called cuticle, should lie flat and smooth and light should bounce off it giving the illusion of shine; this is the situation that we are looking for. For adding shine to your hair, there are several tricks you can resort to.
Tricks of the trade
The basic trick is the oldest known one too: A Cold Rinse! Nothing brings out the light in your hair better. But this doesn’t look viable in all weathers, does it…so let us look at other options too.
Take a look at your hairbrush; is it a plastic, brittle toothed one? Then out it goes, and do get yourself a decent one with natural bristles that is placed on a cushioned pliable bed!
Here are a number of ways to make your mane your pride:
Vinegar Spray: Take some vinegar in a spray bottle and dilute it sufficiently to eliminate the strong odor of vinegar. Now spray into hair and rinse out a few minutes later.
Lemon Extract: Add a juicy lemon’s extract to your last rinse. This is for a blonde’s best shine. If you are a brunette or a red head, use apple cider vinegar instead.
Banana & Almond Oil: Mash a very ripe banana in a little bowl; keep adding a few drops of almond oil while mashing. Massage into your hair; remember I said hair, while it is dry. Wait for ten minutes and rinse out. You can do this at intervals and revive the magic.
Vodka in Shampoo: Add a spoonful of vodka to your shampoo and then shampoo as usual
Beer Massage: Massage your hair with beer and then rinse.
Drying and Brushing Your Hair
Drying: Now that you have applied and rinsed out your magic potion, comb out the tangles with a wide toothed comb. Remember never to apply a brush to your wet hair. Wet hair is elastic and stretches easily, so damage possibility is the highest when your tresses are wet. And if you have just shampooed your hair, wait till 8 hrs after the shampoo for touching your brush.
Brushing: When you do brush, take long strokes from the root to end of your hair in a single long stroke. Use the bristle ends to massage your scalp gently. This will distribute the natural shine serum evenly over your hair, and you emerge with the crown of shine you were dreaming about.
The Final Word
The last word on adding shine to your hair would be its psychological side. It’s almost always a bad hair day with dull limp hair when you are depressed or tense over an external situation. Skin and hair get affected pretty fast when your mood changes. Regular exercise and positive thinking often adds that extra to your looks.
