Nail Styling
Talking of beauty, even small aspects like nails seem to suddenly gain importance. Hence, nail styling and maintenance has become a profession. Advanced techniques like French manicure are becoming popular.
French Manicure
French manicure is a hot topic in the world of nail fashion today. French manicure can be defined in simple terms as a style of shaping and painting the nails with pink and white shades of paint.
The simple reason why French manicure is gaining popularity among women is that it gives a perfect and super-natural look to nails. This makes them glitter, ready and apt for any type of occasion, be it professional or social.
Items Required for French Manicure
Once you decide to do french manicure, you need to collect the items required for it, like:
- A pink nail paint – make sure it is mild
- A white shade
- French manicure kit – this is readily available at a beauty store and consists all of the equipments needed. You don’t have to go hunting for each.
- Base or top coat
- Tip guide strips
- Neutral polish—these are rather pale, pure shades mostly found with a pink, beige or peach cast
- Nail polish remover
- Warm water
- Cotton
Process of French Manicure
Once you have got these things in place, the next step is to learn how to proceed with the actual process of French manicure. Come, let us proceed to analyze the actual steps involved in French manicure:
Step 1
Before beginning, ensure that your nails are clean. Prepare your nails by clipping, filing, and shaping them. In a similar way, prepare your cuticles. Then, wash and dry your nails completely. Once they are completely dry, apply a clear base coat as this protects your nails and prevents chipping.
Step 2
In the second step, apply two thin coats of white shade nail polish to the tip of your nails. You can affix a guide strip below the tip of a nail, following its natural curve. This will easily demarcate the curve in the fingertip and allow you to paint an even white tip easily and precisely. It is better to try to apply the white shade in one long stroke, starting from one side of your nail to the other.
Step 3
Check if the white polish is completely dry and only then you should apply a coat of pink polish over the entire nail. If you desire to have a very natural finish, then one coat of pink polish would suffice; on the other hand, if you prefer a bolder effect, you can apply two coats.
Step 4
To maintain evenness and add life to the polish coat, you can consider applying a topcoat over the entire nail.
Classic French Manicure
What we have discussed so far forms a classic French manicure. If you feel this is too conservative, you can try color combinations as far as your imagination and creativity goes!
Some of the latest embellishing techniques in French manicure are: Using airbrush designs; color blends; shading with stick-on stones, lilacs, pinks, tropical, etc.
