What is Eye Moisturizer?

An uncared for skin and sloppy skin regimen takes its first toll on the skin around the eyes first. Just like the rest of the body is pampered to be looking its best, the eyes deserve attention, not less but more than the rest of it. The fine lines or crow’s feet that develop in the skin around the eyes , the puffiness underneath – sometimes developing into bags, and the dark circles that make you look ghostly are enough for a nightmare.

Hydrating the Skin around Eyes

An eye moisturizer basically hydrates the skin. The skin around the eyes are much more delicate than that in the other parts if the body; it is more sensitive and therefore needs more care too.

A moisturizer for the eye area therefore will need to have different ingredients from an ordinary moisturizer. Active ingredients are found in lesser quantities in eye moisturizers to avoid irritation to the eyes; but there are some other ingredients in it that do not appear in ordinary moisturizers.

Eye Moisturizer Ingredients

Caffeine is an ingredient that brings down puffiness around the eyes, so it is included often in an eye moisturizer. Vitamin K has the ability to soften the dark circles around the eyes, hence it is also found in eye moisturizers. Crow’s feet add age to your general appearance, so firming and toning properties of silicon derivatives and light diffusers are essentially included in an eye moisturizer.

Choosing an Eye Moisturizer

Some moisturizers do claim that they can be used all over, and no additional cream is needed for under-eye care. I believe there are really some unscented normal moisturizers out there that really do the job, but it has to be a personal choice, suited to a personal requirement. You can always test this out.

Testing an Eye Moisturizer

Try out your best eye moisturizer to your left eye area alone for a few days; treat your right eye area with your faithful face moisturizer. Continue for a few weeks and look in the mirror. Can you perceive a difference? If not, this eye moisturizer is doing nothing for you and it’s time for you to change loyalties.

The thumb rule says that the eye moisturizer needs to be light enough to refrain from interfering with your eye make up. It should not invade your contact lenses and using it should definitely lessen your crow’s feet. If not, that pretty little pot with an exorbitantly charged cream is not for you at all!
